1. ANDES HORSEBACK RIDING

Enjoy a horseback riding and hiking at the paramos while admiring the natural forest and green landscapes near the Cotopaxi area.

Day 1: Quito – Cotopaxi Hacienda

• We leave Quito early in the morning and head for Cotopaxi National Park (CNP). We will stop at Hacienda El Porvenir. After driving across the paramo plains, we will reach the car park below the refuge and start our hike up to the climbing hut (Refugio José Ribas) at 4,800m. (15,744 ft).
• We then drive on to Limpiopungo Lake. Packed Lunch. After crossing some valleys, we reach the Pucara del Salitre, an ancient Inca fortress on the old route to the Amazon basin. Our day ends at Hacienda El Porvenir, where a warm fireplace and delicious dinner await us. Overnight stay at Hacienda El Porvenir.

Day 2: Horseback Riding-Hiking

• Hacienda Breakfast Our guides will give us a brief riding lesson before we venture out on our horses. Wearing the typical dress of the chagra (Ecuadorian cowboys), we set off on our ride over the slopes of the extinct volcano, Rumiñahui.
• A legendary chagra from the area will come with us and share some of his deep knowledge of the country life. The ride lasts approximately 4 hours.
• Back in the farmhouse, a tasty local lunch will be ready on our arrival. In the afternoon we walk to Manto Blanco waterfall. Return to Quito.
